HEADLAND, Ala. (FOX19 NOW) – A Headland man died early Saturday morning after he was ejected from his vehicle during a single-vehicle crash on a dark county road.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has identified the victim as Christopher L. Barron, 33, of Headland.

Details of the Crash

The crash occurred at approximately 12:36 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, on Henry County 99, near its intersection with Henry County 78, about five miles east of the Headland city limits.

According to ALEA officials, Barron was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Impala when it left the roadway, struck a guy wire and a ditch, and overturned.

No Seatbelt Worn, Ejected from Vehicle

Captain Jeremy Burkett with ALEA confirmed that Barron was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The dark and quiet stretch of rural road underscored the sudden and devastating nature of the incident. Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are continuing their investigation.
